Recently, our UOW College campus in Wollongong had the pleasure of hosting 38 high school students from the Wuhan Foreign Languages School in China.
Arriving in early June, they added a dash of vibrancy to our campus life, introducing their unique culture to our community, engaging with our dedicated teachers, and immersing themselves in the Australian lifestyle.
The students' enthusiasm and the vibrant cultural exchange brought a new dynamic to our campus, ensuring their presence will be fondly remembered.
The study tour was planned to provide a comprehensive educational experience. Their mornings were filled with lively English lessons, tailored not just to educate but to spark curiosity and deepen their understanding of the language.
But at UOW College, learning doesn't stop when you step outside the classroom. After heir morning lessons, the students were encouraged to explore local culture and visit the beautiful sites around Wollongong, Kiama, Jervis Bay, and Symbio Wildlife Park.
Several days were dedicated to helping the students truly experience life on our campus.
A mix of fun on-campus activities were organised, including an excursion to the Botanical Gardens, campus tours, scavenger hunts, outdoor games, a basketball tournament, and even movie nights.
Organised by our own UOW College student representatives, these activities gave our visiting friends a first-hand feel for our welcoming Wollongong community.
Additionally, the students stayed with local home-stay hosts, providing them with a genuine taste of everyday life in Australia, and the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in our customs and lifestyle.
This study tour encapsulates the immersive, global educational experiences we are committed to providing at UOW College.
We look forward to the opportunity of hosting more students from our partner institutions in the future.
