UOW College Australia is excited to welcome the first group of students under the RizeUp Program.
Known as the Khotwa in Arabic, this initiative, supported by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), offers students from the UAE with opportunities to study abroad, equipping them with the skills and experiences needed to contribute to the UAE’s knowledge-based economy when they return home.
Students sponsored through the RizeUp Program will be studying English for Tertiary Studies and Foundation Studies at UOW College before progressing to the University of Wollongong (UOW) to pursue their bachelor’s degrees.
Warm welcome from UOW College leadership
Recently, Felix Lanceley, General Manager of UOW College Australia; Bariş Satar, Director of UOW Global Student Recruitment; a Khotwa program support official; and members of the UOW College Homestay, English Language, and Student Support teams met with students. They extended a warm welcome, listened to the students' experiences of relocating to a new country, and discussed the positive impact of the available support networks. The students expressed how the assistance from the campus community and their local homestay families has eased their transition to Australia and UOW College.
Homestay program helps adjust to life in Australia
The UOW College Homestay program is crucial in helping students settle into life in Australia. Additionally, the students receive ongoing support from dedicated Student Ambassadors, teachers, and professional staff at UOW College, ensuring their academic and personal success.
Collaborative efforts and future outlook
The collaboration between Austrade and ADEK has been instrumental in making Australia as a preferred destination for Emirati students seeking higher education. Austrade, along with Mindbase Education and IDP Education Ltd, will continue to support students as part of the Khotwa Scholarship Program.
The RizeUp Program is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to fostering a knowledge-based economy by providing its youth with international education experiences. As the program grows, UOW College looks forward to continuing educating Emirati students in the future.
