At UOW College, our students wellbeing is just as important to us as academic success. We provide personalised holistic support to help you adapt to study life including student advisors, individual counselling, health and wellbeing advice, and referrals to external services.
Personal support and wellbeing
UOW College has Student Advisors who can help you with any concerns or problems. Support provided by Student Advisors includes:
- course progress and study pathway advice
- assistance in resolving attendance issues
- support and referral options to other support services
- assist students with applications for Reasonable Adjustments and submitting Academic Consideration
- advice on managing study load.
To make an appointment
Appointments can be made by contacting our Student Advisors directly by email or phone, or at the student service counter at Building 30 on the Wollongong campus. An appointment is required but a Student Advisor can see a student immediately in an emergency situation.
Liverpool campus: a Student Advisor will be available in Room 1.121 at the Liverpool campus each Wednesday and Thursday. Appointments are encouraged, however drop-ins are also accepted.

Student Support Team
The Student Support Team is always here to help with personalised advice and information about adjusting to study life, wellbeing, study skills, or if you need help but don't know where to go. The Student Support Team can help by:

Your wellbeing is important
The UOW College Counselling service provides confidential and professional support if you are experiencing difficulties that are impacting your mental health, wellbeing, and learning.
The UOW Student Accessibility and Inclusion team provides support to students who have a medical condition that impacts on their ability to study. Students can contact the team to discuss their condition or ask about eligibility.
WIC provide programs, services and facilities that encourage and support Indigenous Australians from entry to University, through to successful completion.
We are part of the UOW Pride Network which sets out to develop a visible network of empathetic people who are allies of students and staff identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/gender diverse, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+)
Creating a safe and respectful environment for all members of our community is a top priority. We have services to ensure the safety of students and support for those who have witnessed or experienced threatening behaviour.
The UOW Wellbeing Support Line is available 24/7 via phone or text for students studying in Australia.
Financial support services
It can be stressful to navigate your finances as a student and can often seem impossible. It’s important to be aware of the warning signs of financial stress such as arguing with people close to you about money, withdrawing from others, feeling guilty about spending and worrying a lot. Managing money as a student can be tough! University life can come with a range of expenses from books, concert tickets, coffee, accommodation, tech, socialising and more. Learning techniques to manage your money efficiently is essential for a uni student on a budget.
